The APM 130-780 Super ED Triplet is an imaging machine par excellence.  With a useful 780mm focal length and big 130mm objective for a fast f6 focal ratio. The 130/780 captures the faintest of light with crystal clear clarity and massive contrast. It is, not surprisingly, one of our most popular scopes.


As with all APM telescopes the 130/780 is aligned and star tested before leaving our facility. For added piece of mind each one is shipped with its own LZOS optical test report confirming it achieves at least 95% Strehl. As with the 115/805, the 130/780’s tube is finally crafted and contains multiple baffles to maximise contrast for visual and imaging use.


Imaging accessories for the 130/780 include a 2.5” field flattener and a special medium format flattener both of which maintain focal length. There is also a dedicated Massimo Riccardi designed APM Reducer. This changes focal length by a factor of x 0.75, resulting in a 585mm focal length and ultra fast f4.5 focal ratio.


Focuser options for the 130/780 are the APM 2.5” or 3” Rack and Pinion 360 Degree focusers,  Alternatively we can offer the Starlight Instruments 2.5”, 3” and 3.5” Feathertouch focusers. For imaging use we recommend that the smallest focuser you use is a 3.0” model as heavy vignetting will occur on larger image sensors.
